OMG! OMG! OMG! After resting since my last training session and stocking up on carbs, I have been gearing myself up for this day. I had carefully plotted my route and off I set at 8.20 am. I got to about 1/2 a mile and thought "There is no way I am gonna make ten miles, I dont even feel like doing 1!".
By the time Lee had got the kids ready and loaded into the car and caught up with me I was 7 miles into the 10! I couldn't believe it when he told me. Although I have to say there were some points when I really didn't think I could go on. Most of the time it felt like my legs were moving but I wasn't actually travelling. Once Lee (hubby) had announced my progress I had a burst of enthusiasm and as I turned into the laneways that lead to my parents new house, and I realised I was on the last leg of my journey I had a bit of an energy burst - aided by the sound of my kids and hubby shouting out the car window " COME ON MUMMY!"
It was a short lived energy burst because I soon became aware of pain and aching in my legs. My parents house (the finishline) felt like it was forever away. I had already completed 8 miles by this point but the last two miles felt like an eternity. I felt incredibly joyous when i crossed over the little bridge just around the corner from their house, only to realise I had mis-judged it and their house was still a distant sight! 'GROAN!'.
By this point, which I think was the last half mile I was literally shouting and growling to myself " COME ON EMMA, GO ON!" lol! and GO ON I did :) All the way to my parents house at which point I stopped and realised my legs were OH MY GOD painfull!
Mmmm nice cuppa coffee and wholemeal toast to recharge me ("Thanks Mum!")
I actually cant believe, even now, that I ran the full distance.
15 miles next.......
