Training Day 31 - 20.1.10

Oh NO! Disaster has struck and I am absolutely gutted. My legs were achy today but I thought I would still go to the gym for more interaval training on the treadmill, again aiming for 40 minutes.  After about 20 minutes I noticed a pain getting worse in my left leg but figured it was just a result of yesterdays training, however after 30 mintues I had to stop my session because the pain was so bad.  By the time I got home I was limping. The pain is worse in my left leg but present in both legs, all down the front inner shin.

My friend advised it sounds like I have a shin splints injury, and I looked it up online and everything points towards her theory being correct. The only way to treat it is to rest and I am absolutely gutted. I should have listened to my body and NOT gone to the gym tonight. I HOPE that the injury isn't going to be an on going one, and is puerely a result of doing to much in one go.  I shall rest as advised and possibly go to the gym and do some other kind of stamina building excersise like the bike, something that doesnt impact on my calves as much.

On the advice of my friend, Kirsty, I am going to locate a sports therapist and seek out some expert advice to prevent this from happening again.

I am determined that this will NOT put a stop to me completing the Marathon.
